The Firmware is the sort of operating system of the PSP, it's all the System files that allow the PSP to function. It controls and makes best use of the PSP's hardware.

Custom Firmware is unofficial firmware for your PSP, it's like the alternative to the official Firmwares released by Sony.

Custom Firmware is the same as CFW, CFW is basically an abbreviation.
