it really comes down to what you want out of your phone. what functions, what looks, what styles.. your price range (in terms of outright handset/plan/prepaid usage). if you spell all that out for me i'll probably be able to give you some suggestions.

edit: no one has suggested the samsung d600?!?!?!

wooo both my old phones sold for 230$ (both in total) on eBay! sweet, that covers more than half the cost of what i had to pay for my D600 due to upgrade in mobile plan!

Well, i'm probly lookin' for a $30 plan type'a thing, not too concerned about which network it's with... Optus and Telstra have the Razr on a $30 plan-- Telstra has it prepaid for $300 too... Prepaid'd be cool too, but it'd take a little while to save for a good one (since all the good phones are only on plans really... with some exceptions

)

Yeh, i know DJaye, i looked in there a sec. ago-- I didn't realise what it'd become when i posted this otherwise i woulda just posted there-- I thought it was basically just you posting one thing-- And i probly will get more confused, but it's better than geting a 2 year plan and after 1 week going 'shit, this phone sux'

My boss has that phone, it looks freakin' sweet... What kinda plans are there for that?

P.s- I prefer flip-phones, that's why i think the RAzr looks good...

Did the admins delete it? Lol-- funny for 2 reasons 1: I said it was okay, and it was awesome 2: it was up for at least a month... so why delete it now?

eh, nokia's only good cause they weren't stupid like the other companies (i.e- they saw the trend and went for it quickly)-- they're nothing special... Sony's good, but I can't find any phones I like at the moment...
I hav only heard good reviews bout motorola so far, havn't heard of multiple-returns...

I've got the phone...but its really a balance of both good AND bad. Here's a basic list of both:

Good:
Slim design so it fits anywhere
Very difficult to break (dropped it on concrete and tiles and it still functions perfectly)
Excellent video and camera quality.
MP3 tone compatible.

Bad:
Freezes up on occasions (well mine anyway)
The buttons tend to smudge the screen when you close the phone, meaning frequent wiping if bothered.
No radio
No memory stick compatibility
Very limited memory for videos and photos.

If I had to rate the phone, I would give it a generous 8/10. Its very compact and can take a hit. But don't expect to get much fun out of it in the end. Few photos and videos here and there...but that's really about it.

Thanx dude-- how big's the memory, and is there computer compatability? (are u stuck with a d/l song or can u change it evry day etc.-- + put ur own on... take off saved fotos)

my d600 is on a 45$ plan. however because i upgraded my plan from $33 to $45 with 6 months remaining on the contract, the phone costed me an extra $320 - which is not bad considering the price outright is around 700 - 900 depnding on where you buy it (not including eBay) -- and i've sold both my old phones to cover for more than half the cost of the $320 that i have to pay!

RAZR - i've played around with it for few months and the only good features were it's slimness and how much you can hack the crap out of it with mods. apart from that, the camera quality is not too good, the menus aren't too good and slow at times, SMS typing speed is slow (not very good if you're a fast texter), limited memory (approximately 11MB) and yeah.. overall it's a decent phone but not to my liking.

EDIT: btw, i think i remember seeing the D600 on a 30 or 35 dollar plan @ MasterLink (optus powered) in the city on Russel St.. if you have a look around, you might find it on that kind of plan. i am a flip fan too (originally) but when i switched to the d600 slider, i fell in love with it

I have to say theyre the only brand of phone Ive never had a problem with. So I think theyre something special in the fact they last. They also have better features etc than alot of phones.
And with the new motorolas go and ask for advice at a phone store. The 2 I asked about it said they wouldnt recommend it. lol Theyre like ipods... they bring out new models but they dont fix the old problems lol but then its up to you in the end, if you dont mind the risk - go for it

of course not all of them will have problems but the few ive heard of is enough for me..

no not yet. LGs are homo. the software is so unstable. i've had 4 LGs and all of them were buggy. 3 didn't wanna do jack about them. LG Repair centre COULDNT do jack about them.. so had to take to a repair centre on Spencer St. in melb.. and took them ages to fix. one phone had to be taken in for 3 - 4 repairs for the SAME fault

@EGO: do u know where 'whitehouse' (asian arcade) used to be? its basically along russel st. where all the asian stores/arcades are...

in other words.. go up Bourke St. towards Parliament Station, then turn LEFT when you see Hungry Jacks, then keep walking straight passed the arcades & asian grocery stores & other oriental crap till you get to a mobile shop called MasterLink
