CRIMSON GEM SAGA
So far I am liking it. I bought it without much thought from PlayAsia and the day it arrived read the GAMESPOT review which totally slammed it and made me regret the purchase.
Nevertheless I loaded it up last night and played for a few hours. The combat starts of very simple however i can see it getting more involved. I have three characters in my party at the moment and things are getting interesting.
Leveling is kind of strange - the targets are so small that after a few hours play my characters are levels 18, 16 and 16. Seems fairly rapid to me and I am not sure how levelling really affects skills etc but imagine it will become clearer over time.
The graphics are quite nice - the backgrounds and character still art especially. The combat graphics are pretty basic and not really as good as I thought they would be but thats fine.
This game plays very similarly to something like FFIV on the DS - old school RPG with some mods to bring it up to speed with new consoles. It is far from ground breaking but seems to do what it does well. After a few hours play I am enjoying it and want to get back in to it again which is a good sign. I will update once I have played for a couple of days.
